Flaming Pit, TheAmerican Food. 1 Star
    CLOSED in 2009.
Years ago, The Flaming Pit was a great place to go. They had an all-you-can-eat salad and dinner buffet. That all came to an abrupt end about a month ago when they stopped the buffets, and now offer a very limited menu. Basically you have a choice of Fried Chicken, Fried or Grilled Salmon or White Fish (that’s actually the name). You can also have ribs. Now they offer a family style salad, however you have to ask for it. It seems they are trying to stop offering the family style salad as well. The food is expensive and tasteless. The cleanliness is questionable. Bathroom floors are sticky. Carpets leading to the bathrooms smell of sewer issues. I had the White Fish. It comes with sweet potato and canned vegetables for $13.95. To get the fish to taste like something you can eat, add lots of tartar and pepper. We were told the coffee was included. That was just a tease. Coffee is awful and costs $1.50 per cup. In my opinion, The Flaming Pit is sure to “flame-out” sooner rather than later. Reviewed, April 2009

La Vie En Rose Cafe. French Food. 4 Stars
Food quality and preparation is excellent. Service is marginal with a smile. Great place for a group up to 5 people dining. For groups larger than 5, find another place. Restaurant staff seems to fall apart with larger groups ... just can’t handle it. I was with a party of 10, and food was awesome. Crepes very good, especially the one with scallops and shrimp. Actually you can’t go wrong with any of the fish dishes. Mussels were overcooked, but the flavor was very good. House wines affordable and good. Since we were never offered coffee after the dinner, not sure they make it. Desserts are okay, not exceptional. Dinner costs range from $20-$30. La Vie En Rose Cafe located at 2950 N. SR 7, Margate, Florida. Reviewed May 2009.
