Uncle Julio’s

East Boca Raton, TexMex.

Originally, when Uncle Julio’s first opened their restaurant in Boca Raton, they brought in a team of specialists to make the food and serve the food. The quality was second to none. We gave them 5 Stars. That was in early 2009. Only a year later we reviewed them again and the food quality has plummeted. Food quality was awful! I had the Tortilla soup, and it has turned into a watered down vegetable soup. One person in our party ordered tacos and claimed that there was no taste. When you are first seated, they serve micro-thin chips with a completely tasteless salsa. We complained, and they brought out a cup of chopped jalapeno peppers. Believe it or not, adding a cup of jalapeno peppers didn’t change the taste. And, not only is the food quality awful, the prices are expensive. For example, two chile rellenos for $17! Service is a “who cares” attitude. Of course, the place is empty, so obviously others have also figured out that Uncle Julio’s is a place to avoid. I’ve eaten lots of TexMex, and Uncle Julio’s has lost its ability to produce TexMex of any quality.
